Job description

Title of position: Social Media Assistant / Student Worker

Supervisor: Vinh Tu (Director of Enrollment)

Position Start Date: Spring or Fall 2026

Number of students needed: One (1)

Schedule: TBD, 20 hours max per week

Salary: $18 per hour

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Social Media Student Worker is responsible for assisting the marketing team with day to day social media and marketing goals.

The successful candidate will be a creative NewSchool student with excellent communication skills. In addition to other responsibilities, this person will create content for NewSchool’s social media accounts and provide insight into the student perspective, participate in social listening to uncover brand sentiment and provide a competitive analysis to optimize NewSchool’s channels, and assist with the implementation of student social media takeovers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop regular social media content and create a monthly content calendar, ensuring tone of voice remains consistent with brand guidelines across all platforms
  • Research: Regularly engage in social listening and competitive analysis, share findings and recommendations with the Marketing Team
  • Assist with student-led social media takeovers
  • Coordinate with other NewSchool social media account owners as needed
  • Document student life events and share recaps on social media
  • Share student projects on social platforms
  • Assist with Marketing events as needed (social media promo/recaps, printing, setup, logistics, photography/videography)

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with best practices for sharing content on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Keen sense of design and ability to maintain consistency with NewSchool branding guidelines and voice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Drive/Google Docs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Ability to complete tasks that are requested in a timely manner
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills, customer service-oriented
  • Great attention to detail, successfully perform under pressure/to deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects
  • Reliable, independent, self-motivated, and able to take ownership of project
  • Longevity: Able to commit to position for a minimum of one year.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English
  • Bonus: Experience managing social media channels for a company or brand

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 CGPA (must at least be in 2nd quarter to have CGPA)
  • Must have no history of academic or conduct issues on campus or in student housing
