Job description

We are seeking a Sushi Server for our Sora Sushi Bar here at Parkwest Bicycle Casino. Sora is a new and exciting dining concept that combines the best of traditional sushi and contemporary hand rolls.

We are seeking energetic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as servers. At Sora, our servers play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience, ensuring that each guest enjoys the best of our sushi and hand roll offerings. We are committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience with high-quality ingredients, meticulous preparation, and a vibrant, fast-paced atmosphere. 


  1. Ensure that guests have a pleasant dining experience by efficiently delivering sushi and other menu items, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  2. Greet and welcome guest with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  3. Play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience, ensuring that each guest enjoys the best of our sushi and hand roll offerings.
  4. Has a deep understanding of the sushi menu, including different types of sushi (nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls), ingredients, preparation methods, and accompaniments.
  5. Explain sushi bar’s unique dining concept, highlighting fresh hand rolls and sushi.
  6. Has full awareness of various sushi ingredients, including types of fish, rice, seaweed, and condiments like wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger.
  7. Knowledge of traditional Japanese beverages, including sake, and the ability to suggest pairings with sushi dishes enhances the customer experience. Prior experience in recommending or serving sake is a plus.
  8. Ability to guide customers with allergies or dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, vegan) through the menu options.
  9. Accurately take orders from customers, ensuring that special requests or dietary restrictions are noted. Relay these orders to the kitchen and sushi chefs.
  10. Serve sushi and other dishes to customers in a timely manner, ensuring that each dish is presented attractively.
  11. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test.
  • Must possess RBS Certification (Responsible Beverage Service).
  • Must possess a California Food Handler Card.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.

Education:  High School diploma or General Equivalency degree (GED) preferred.

Experience:  Experience in a setting where Japanese dining customs and etiquette are observed, such as understanding the proper way to serve sushi, present dishes, and interact with customers in a culturally appropriate manner. Three to five years several years of experience working in restaurants, preferably in establishments that focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine. Qualified individual must be knowledgeable and able to distinguish different types of sushi.

Physical and mental requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 25 pounds.
