Job description

Position: Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach
Location: Austin Catholic High School
Type: Contract
Position Overview
Austin Catholic Volleyball Program is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Varsity Coach to join our coaching staff. This individual will support the Head Coach in developing athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and building a competitive and positive volleyball program.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and leading team practices, conditioning sessions, and game strategies
  • Support the Head Coach in organizing team activities, games, and tournaments
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility
  • Help analyze team performance, provide constructive feedback, and adjust training plans accordingly
  • Promote a culture of discipline, hard work, and respect within the team
  • Assist with game-day operations, including setup, lineup coordination, and in-game coaching
  • Help track and analyze team statistics to inform practice and game strategies
  • Assist with filming practices and games, reviewing footage to identify areas for improvement

Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and techniques
  • Previous playing experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with the Head Coach and athletic department staff
  • Passion for working with high school athletes to develop their skills both on and off the court
  • Ability to attend practices, games, and team events during volleyball season

Requirements: all paid for by ACHS
  • Must complete or have completed Protecting God's Children training through the Archdiocese of Detroit.
  • Must submit to a new background check, if not completed within the last 6 months.
  • Must have a valid CPR certificate or obtain one.
  • Follow all MHSAA & CHSL coaching requirements, such as CAP courses offered by the MHSAA

Salary: Dependent on qualifications
