Job description

TREE MAINTENANCE WORKER 1

The Village of Ridgewood is posting the full-time position of Tree Maintenance Worker 1, with a salary starting at $57,297.00.

Job responsibilities are similar to those specified for Civil Service Title #04220 Tree Maintenance Worker 1, per the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Under direction, applicants will assist in the planting, transplanting, pruning, cutting of trees and assist in the treatment of diseased trees.

Applicants must have the ability to, under supervision: perform basic ground crew tasks, have basic knowledge of tree pruning/removal, stump/root grinding.

Applicants must have experience with woodchippers, chainsaws, ropes and knots. Backhoe and bucket truck experience a plus.

Candidates must possess a valid New Jersey Class B commercial drivers license or be able to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Working hours are 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.

Please note that resumes will be accepted through August 7, 2026. Selected applicants will be notified for an interview during the following two weeks with a successful candidate to begin in mid-September.
