Is 55 too old to become a train driver?

Assistant train drivers can typically start their careers at age 55, provided they meet health and fitness requirements, which are essential for operating trains safely. Many railway companies have age limits that focus on health assessments rather than strict age restrictions, so older applicants often qualify if they pass necessary medical exams and training. Experience, skills, and physical fitness are key factors in determining eligibility regardless of age.
