Overview

We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis seeks a Transportation Data & Field Operations Engineer to support the National Park Traffic Monitoring Program in Denver, CO. This is an exciting opportunity to support the National Park Service and Federal Highway Administration in the implementation of the Federal Lands Transportation Services Center traffic monitoring program through data analysis, quality review, and frequent site visits to National Parks.

Your role

This position will report directly to FHWA's'office in Lakewood, CO and require full time in office attendance (no remote or hybrid work schedules). Travel to National Parks (roughly 4 to 8 trips per year) will be required. Position responsibilities include:

  • Conduct QA/QC on FOTSC traffic data.
  • Conduct monthly reporting of FOTSC traffic data to parks.
  • Analyze traffic data in select parks for traffic patterns.
  • Compile data requests for traffic data, as needed.
  • Create/update count stations in the Traffic Database.
  • Assist the FOTSC Program Manager in the creation of the NPS Traffic Data Annual Report.
  • Give presentations on FOTSC traffic data website to stakeholders.
  • Review inspection reports created by FHWA or its contractors.
  • Provide backup support to other FOTSC staff.
  • Conduct field work, inspect/repair existing count stations based on FOTSC's specifications and creating inspection reports.
  • Drive Federal government vehicles.
About you
  • Civil Engineer or related field (statistician, planner, etc.) with a minimum of two years of experience.
  • Successful completion of an engineering degree or related field at an accredited university or college.
  • Experience with traffic monitoring practices, database operation and conducting quality control on traffic data desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Field work in parks may requiring hiking up to 0.5 miles in rugged terrain.

Additional information
