Assistant Superintendent

About Us
Boulder Country Club is a 27-hole private club that winds through the Gunbarrel Green neighborhood in Boulder Colorado. This Press Maxwell-designed golf course was constructed in 1962 and opened for play in 1963. We have completed a 5 phase Master Plan and have additional improvements to the course on the horizon
Position Summary
As the Assistant Superintendent, you will work closely with the Director of Grounds and Head Assistant to oversee daily operations and ensure the highest standards of course maintenance and presentation. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with team management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing agronomic programs to maintain course quality and playability.
  • Supervise and train Grounds staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  • Monitor and manage irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the golf course to identify maintenance needs.
  • Oversee chemical and fertilizer applications, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and manage budgets.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in a golf course managerial role or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and equipment.
  • Pesticide Applicator's License (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Enthusiasm for delivering exceptional results and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Passionate about creating a great working culture within the department.
  • Understanding of the rules of golf as it pertains to the daily setup of a golf course for play.
  • Works well with others to develop a great working culture within the department.
  • Data-driven individual with proficiency in computer use and ability to use: Microsoft Office, Excel, Digital Job Board, software-based irrigation software, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
