Job description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a Retail company to identify an Interim Financial Controller in New York, NY. This is a 5-6 month consulting engagement with a hybrid schedule requiring 1-2 days per week in Downtown Manhattan. We are seeking candidates with experience in Retail, Software as a Service, or Consumer Products industries.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Lead preparation of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reporting packages.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Oversee accounting for occupancy-related expenses, including landlord rent payments, utilities, and store operating costs across multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Finance teams to ensure accurate expense allocation, fixed asset reporting, and depreciation tracking.
  • Strengthen internal controls, identify process gaps, and implement improvements across accounting workflows.
  • Provide insights into business performance through variance analysis and KPI monitoring.
  • Lead preparation for external audits and year-end reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is required.
  • Previous experience at management level within Retail or Software as a Service environment
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups; financial modeling a plus).
  • Previous experience using NetSuite system
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a transitional, fast-paced environment and provide hands-on support.
Schedule
  • 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, 40 hour work week is typical with occasional overtime as needed.
  • 1-2 days in office in Downtown, Manhattan as minimum
$70-90/hr
