Job description

The Assistant Teller Manager is responsible for delivering accurate, professional, and solution-focused service to members. Key duties include assisting members in person and by phone, providing information about credit union products and services, and conducting account research. The role may involve completing necessary file maintenance, and assisting with payroll and account changes. It also requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of and adhering to security procedures and internal controls.

In the absence of the Teller Manager, this position serves as the acting Manager. To support professional development, Assistants will periodically “float” to other locations to enhance their leadership and supervisory skills.  Additional duties may be assigned, ensuring accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.


Solution Oriented:

  • Professionally and proactively help members in achieving their financial objectives with guidance and advice.
  • Work with members to resolve potential problems and create a positive member solution.

Product Promotion:

  • Understand members’ needs and professionally promote appropriate credit union products and services.
  • Continuously develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Palmetto Citizens products to confidently assist members and recommend appropriate solutions. This ability develops over time as associates learn and apply their knowledge when working with members.
  • Enhance member service usage of Palmetto Citizens products.

Tellering:

  • Always deliver assistance in a safe and secure manner. Knowing the member and the depth of their relationship.
  • Always be professional and pleasant in handling member transactions. Receives deposits, loan payments, and transfers; transacts cash or check withdrawals; provides cashier’s checks, money orders and any other service within their authority.
  • Maintain a balanced and secure cash drawer.
  • Has authority to permit availability of funds for checks up to a specified limit without further approval.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • In absence of Teller Manager, the Assistant Teller Manager has responsibility for balancing and security of vault cash, and all other cosigned items, and negotiable instrument(s) in the office.
  • Assist Teller Manager helps with instructing member service associates in the areas of security procedures and internal controls.
  • Oversee ATM operations (West Columbia location only), balancing, and care.
  • Assist Teller Manager in enhancing associate’s abilities through mentoring and teaching.
  • Assist Teller Manager in enhancing the value of the Member Service Project.
  • Has authority to accept and approve checks up to a specified limit without further approval.

  • 3+ years of cash handling and customer service experience required, preferably in a retail banking or credit union setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required, college degree preferred.
  • Prior head tellering experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates a plus.
