Powering Precision Through Technical Drafting Excellence!

MEPPI’s Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking a detail-oriented Drafter to create company and customer drawings using computerized drafting software. Working under the direction of Applications Engineering leadership, this role supports custom product design, documentation accuracy, and high-quality customer deliverables while contributing to a professional and collaborative engineering environment.


What You’ll Do

Create Technical Drawings: Prepare drawings and basic layouts for company products in collaboration with Applications Engineers and Designers.
Customize CAD Files: Produce customer-specific CAD files to meet technical and application requirements.
Maintain Drawing Data: Create, revise, and maintain drawing files in accordance with company drafting standards and procedures.
Support Continuous Improvement: Assist with and provide recommendations to improve company policies, drafting procedures, and documentation practices.
Support Engineering Leadership: Provide drafting support to the Drafting Supervisor and Applications Engineering Section Manager as needed.
Promote Division Excellence: Further the goals and professional image of SWGD through effective, cooperative interaction with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers.
Champion Quality & Safety: Maintain working knowledge of MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and understand how they apply to daily work.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain drawings related to office and shop facilities
  • Provide basic design support to Applications Engineers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Completion of a certified drafting training program
  • 0–2 years of experience in computer-based mechanical and/or electrical drafting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate knowledge of 3D drafting systems and techniques
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics

Skills & Attributes:

  • Intermediate interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Technology Proficiency:

  • Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with CAD and drafting software
