Job description

Abacus Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide technical support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  This is a full-time position.


  • Support the deployment of cloud infrastructure solutions under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring configurations are aligned with business requirements.
  • Support integration and optimization efforts integrating cloud systems with existing infrastructure and third-party services, including low-code/no-code platforms Contributes to efforts aimed at optimizing systems for performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine cloud resource provisioning and management tasks using tools like Bash, PowerShell, or Python. Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline implementations.
  • Monitor systems and perform basic troubleshooting, set up, and maintain basic monitoring solutions to track system health and performance.
  • Address routine issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers.
  • Work with project managers and stakeholders to understand project scope and deliverables and contribute to project execution as a team member, supporting technical tasks as needed.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for cloud systems and processes, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Engage in continuous learning by staying informed about the latest cloud technologies and trends by participating in training sessions and workshops.
  • Monitor Cloud Usage and Costs and report findings to senior engineers and assist in analyzing expenditures for potential cost optimization.
  • Support AI Integration Efforts by assisting in the deployment and integration of AI solutions within cloud architectures, supporting data preparation and basic model setup tasks, and contributing to efforts aimed at optimizing AI model performance and scalability, ensuring efficient resource use under the direction of senior engineers.

5+ years experience in systems engineering.  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or a related field.  Current relevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)) are strongly desired.  Able to troubleshoot high level technical and non-technical issues.  Experience in evaluating, testing, deploying and maintaining both custom developed and third-party software upgrades.  Able to create and maintain system architecture and troubleshooting documentation.  Experience with performing engineering and/or scientific research, studies, and analyses of specified technological, scientific, programmatic, and operational issues.  Able to prepare plans and assessments, such as management engineering plans, integrated support plans, and implementation plans.  Must be a US citizen.
