Description
Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an environment conducive to employee trust and value.
  • Quickly recognize and correct safety hazards. Target zero accidents.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good condition and will operate safely.
  • Ensure that all production processes are in control
  • Earn rapport with workplace peers as well as subordinates. Support other departments (maintenance, sanitation, shipping, receiving, etc.) to maintain 'team' status.
  • Administer policies consistently and timely.
  • Plan (calculate) and execute changeovers with minimal materials waste.
  • Prepare / ensure that components of all machinery are set properly prior to and during shift to facilitate proper operation during production; assist with maintenance repairs when necessary.
  • Lead and oversee the cleaning and sanitation of all production equipment in the packaging area, both during production shifts and during changeover shutdowns for format and flavor changes.
  • Communicate required equipment changes to maintenance staff, providing ample changeover time; advise production manager when changeovers are complete.
  • Assume all other duties assigned by production manager.

Job Duties
  • Tour department to ensure that associates are in assigned work locations, that all equipment is operating properly, identify / correct safety hazards.
  • Monitor product quality continuously throughout the department by ensuring that all product and process specifications are in control, including all cartons and cases printed information; code date, UPC, product description, etc.
  • Communicate with other supervisors to ensure that production is performing satisfactorily and to facilitate an orderly shift transfer.
  • Ensure that job vacancies are filled temporarily or permanently.
  • Utilize training opportunities for self and staff.

Requirements
A. Experience
• Minimum of three to five years of management / supervisory experience is helpful.
• Line production and manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Proven technical and mechanical ability is required.
• Working knowledge of wrapping and packaging equipment is desirable, but not necessary.
• Computer literacy is preferred.
B. Education
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Business Degree is helpful.
• Math aptitude helpful
• Proficient use of calculator
