Assistant Superintendent – Multi-Family & Mid-Rise Construction

Our client is a well-established Calgary-based general contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality multi-family residential developments throughout Alberta. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Superintendent to support the successful delivery of wood-frame and concrete mid-rise residential projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their career under experienced Superintendents while gaining exposure to complex residential construction.

The Opportunity

Working alongside the Site Superintendent and Project Manager, you will help coordinate daily site activities, maintain safety standards, monitor quality, and ensure work progresses according to schedule.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on site, solving problems, building relationships with trades, and developing into a future Site Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent with the day-to-day management of site operations.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Help maintain and update the construction schedule.
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct daily site walks identifying deficiencies and safety concerns.
  • Promote and enforce all health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with site logistics, material deliveries and equipment coordination.
  • Complete daily reports, site documentation and progress photos.
  • Participate in inspections with consultants, owners and municipal authorities.
  • Coordinate deficiency completion and quality control throughout construction.
  • Support project closeout, occupancy and turnover activities.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial or residential construction.
  • Experience working on multi-family, wood-frame or concrete mid-rise projects is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and site operations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and construction management software (Procore experience is an asset).
  • CSTS 2020 (or equivalent) required.
  • First Aid certification considered an asset.
