Position: Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Department: Athletics
Status: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach provides expertise and guidance while developing and implementing sound and scientifically proven strength training and physical conditioning protocol. This position requires knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA Division 1, CAA, and Southern Conference rules and regulations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and deliver comprehensive strength, speed, agility, conditioning and nutritional supplement programs for assigned NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate sport programs.
  • Communicate and work in partnership with sport coaching staffs and athletic training staff to provide an integrated program of year-round performance training, injury prevention and reconditioning for student athletes.
  • Administration and supervision of strength and supplements.
  • Travel with associated sport programs during away contests.
  • Provide daily weight room supervision, daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures including, but not limited to; Title IX and Information Security, including, but not limited to; FERPA, HIPAA and other state and federal guidelines.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Health or related field, and/or equivalent training and experience required. Masters' degree desired.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in collegiate strength and conditioning.
  • Collegiate sports nutrition experience.
  • Certified Strength and Condition Specialist (CSCS) or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) certification (Post Graduate Certification).
  • Red Cross CPR/AED certification required.
  • Experience working with basketball, preferably at the collegiate level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both written and oral channels.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with university faculty, staff, students, outside service providers and vendors, officials and opposing team personnel, and the public.
  • Exercise independent judgement in complex and new situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and standard methods of digital communication such as web/text/chat platforms.
  • Working knowledge of up-to-date training methodologies rooted in the movement sciences.
  • Vast knowledge of strength training and physical conditioning modalities in order to maximize human performance.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of human functional anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology and sport psychology.
  • Must be able to train, educate, and motivate groups of collegiate athletes in groups upwards of 20 individuals.
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • This position requires accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work withing the Christian mission of Campbell University.
