IMEGis hiringan Electrical Project Designer in Anaheim, California. This role will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high complexity projects. The position focuses on engineering analysis, design, andimplementationoversight of electrical systems for buildings.

This position will work within project budgets, support planning and scheduling, mentor less experienced staff, and collaborate across teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team supports healthcare-focused MEP work, including hospital renovations, additions, and research facilities, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems,utilizingengineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.

  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build andmaintainclient relationships through professional communication.

  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects.

  • Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines andobjectives.

  • Document design decisions and instructions from clients whilemonitoringproject design progress as related to percent complete and feeexpended.

  • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.

  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications, and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industrystandardsand client requirements.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.

  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work andidentifyand mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

  • Identifypotential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.

  • Oversee projects throughbiddingand construction administration phase.

Education and Experience (one of the following):

OptionA:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

  • 3 years of experience minimumrequired, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

OptionB:

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred

  • 7 years of experience minimumrequired, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiencyin design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings

  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools

  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards

  • Proficient with energy compliance software such asComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link,TechStreet,MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)

  • Proficiencyin Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.

  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such aseSPECS

  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

State of California Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
