SOSNA Inc.

Designer

Transform Spaces, Elevate Lives: Join Sosna as our New Designer

At Sosna Inc., we don't just renovate houses; we help our clients fall in love with their homes again. As a referral-based, full-service renovation contractor, we take immense pride in delivering finely crafted products on time and on budget. We are looking for a dedicated, professional Designer to join our "awesome team" and help us reach our goal of being the most sought-after company for clients and employees alike.

Why You'll Love Working at Sosna

  • Meaningful Impact: Your work directly transforms spaces and elevates the lives of our clients.
  • Collaborative Culture: You'll be part of a team that values honesty, vulnerability, and mutual support.
  • Growth & Learning: We are committed to helping our employees reach their full potential through continuous learning opportunities.
  • Flexibility: We offer flexible working hours and the ability to work from home when desired.

Your Role and Objectives

Reporting directly to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for accurately designing 8-12 renovation projects annually, ensuring both client satisfaction and company profitability. Your core mission is to help clients make the right decisions throughout the design process while supporting our construction team to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Excellence: Perform all tasks described in our Design Agreement, including style identification, measured drawings of existing spaces, preliminary plans, and final 3D elevations and details.
  • Client Guidance: Set clear expectations for the design process and assist clients with material selections, including touring supplier showrooms.
  • Project Coordination: Assemble and maintain critical project files (D to S Folder), collect vendor pricing, and stay current on industry trends and product availability (e.g., appliances, fixtures, flooring).
  • Pre-Construction & Construction Support: Arrange professional photography, track selection orders for timely delivery, review millwork shop drawings, and provide detailed specifications to Site Supervisors.
  • Field Engagement: Attend site meetings to assist the production team with the correct placement of fixtures and rough-ins.

Qualifications & Characteristics

  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of AutoCAD or Chief Architect is required. Familiarity with Google Apps and BuilderTrend is a significant asset.
  • Education: A degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, or an equivalent field from a Canadian college.
  • Professionalism: You must be punctual, highly organized, and able to be assertive yet polite and professional.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients, designers, production crews, and suppliers.
  • Mobility: You must have your own vehicle and the ability to travel to various job sites across the GTA to take measurements.

Our Core Values

We hire based on character as much as skill. Our ideal candidate is:

  1. Organized and Punctual: Prioritizing tasks to meet every deadline.
  2. Honest and Vulnerable: Ready to admit mistakes, learn from them, and seek help when needed.
  3. A Team Player: Focused on common goals and maintaining a positive attitude even in stressful situations.
  4. Caring and Empathetic: Valuing people over tasks and fostering a safe team environment.
  5. Results Driven: Measuring success by the quality of outcomes, not just hours worked.

Working Conditions: This is a permanent position in an active, fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Occasional evening or weekend meetings with clients may be necessary to accommodate their schedules.
