About the Job

CatFace is seeking a talented Shortform & Ad Scriptwriter for a contracted project basis to assist our Marketing team in creating scripts for ads and shorts, across our Shuki, Aphmau, and Stories channels. The ideal collaborator will research trends, craft engaging, audience-focused scripts, and maintain consistent, captivating storytelling that connects with our child and young adult viewers.

Projects will involve concept to completion development of high-quality scripts while ensuring alignment with our humorous, playful, and whimsical brand style. Each project may include researching trends, writing compelling narratives, and refining scripts to enhance audience engagement.

The ideal candidate has strong writing, editorial, and communication skills, a passion for YouTube, gaming content trends (especially Minecraft), and the ability to deliver captivating, polished work that fits within fast-paced online entertainment production.


What You'll Do

  • Conduct necessary research and apply analytics to craft scripts that drive audience engagement and channel growth.
  • Prepare all script materials for your assigned projects, including notes, outlines, and reference materials.
  • Write original scripts tailored to project goals and audiences, ensuring a consistent tone and logical flow in alignment with the CatFace brand.
  • Develop short-form content inspired by current and emerging trends in young adult and childrens internet culture.
  • Participate in feedback rounds for your projects, revising scripts based on direction from management and creative leads.
  • Provide clearly formatted scripts with relevant metadata (e.g., cast lists, SEO tags, and resource links) to support production and discoverability.
  • Collaborate with Production and Editing teams to ensure scripts are properly prepared for hand-off and answering follow-up questions for clarity.
  • Occasionally assist with transcription or documentation tasks for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with team needs.
  • Update relevant creative and theme documentation when applicable, incorporating notes or directives from upper management.
  • Outline the core responsibilities of the position. Make sure your list of responsibilities is detailed but concise. Also emphasize the duties that may be unique to your organization. What We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years of experience as a scriptwriter or in a similar creative role, with a strong portfolio showcasing an ability to craft engaging, audience-focused scripts.
  • Proven experience writing for young adult or childrens media.
  • Ability to write dialogue, edit, and proofread, along with an eye for tone, pacing, and emotional resonance.
  • Familiarity with Minecraft lore is necessary, comfort integrating gaming culture references into storytelling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Blockbuster mod is not required, but ability to learn is necessary.
  • Understand YouTube gaming content trends and platform dynamics; genuine passion for gaming, animation, and digital storytelling is highly valued.
  • Ability to interpret and apply feedback to refine content designed for children and young adults, especially for an enchanting, playful, romantic, and whimsical storytelling style.
  • An analytical mindset to apply viewer insights and/or video metrics into increased content engagement.
  • Capable of managing individual projects independently, while also collaborating effectively with producers, editors, and creative leads when necessary.
  • Demonstrate efficient communication and timely follow-up, particularly when working remotely or asynchronously.
  • A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Availability to coordinate and communicate during core business hours 9:00am - 5:30pm CT (GMT-6:00) when actively engaged in a project.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
