Job description

Job Purpose

The Director of Project Finance is AstroTurf’s senior project finance leader, responsible for managing the full cycle of project-level finance across all AstroTurf entities. This position controls the project work-in-process (WIP) reporting process and serves as a key connection between Finance and Operations. The Director of Project Finance provides timely and accurate financial information to operations and finance leadership to support project cost management and revenue recognition, while driving process improvements and automation for a growing company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for AstroTurf project finance, including WIP reporting, job costing, and coordination between Finance and Operations for accurate and timely reporting
  • Review and oversee results of month-end WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting for all AstroTurf projects in accordance with IFRS 15, ensuring revenue is recognized based on the percentage-of-completion methodology; coordinate with the accounting team to ensure revenue recognition and related contract balances are accurately reflected in the company's financial statements.
  • Lead a team of regional project finance resources to review and provide support for project finance activities within each region
  • Administer use tax reporting for AstroTurf and add-on entities: calculate use tax payments per job, propose accrual entries for use tax to the accounting department, and coordinate filings with external tax consultants.
  • Coordinate with Operations team to maintain and distribute weekly and month-end forecast reports.
  • Review and validate quarterly buyback bonuses calculations prepared by Project teams based on project finance results: review Estimate vs. Actual job costing data with regional teams; submit reviewed bonuses to HR and Payroll for approval and processing.
  • Maintain all WIP reporting documentation and financial reports for accessible, consistent record-keeping; provide ad hoc reports and supplemental close data as requested by operations, finance, and leadership.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and accountingrelated integrations.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of the project finance function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Finance preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of project or construction finance, or related financial operations experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or similar ERP); experience with Wrike or similar project management systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of WIP accounting, job costing, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and project-level financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage large data sets; strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and make datadriven recommendations
  • Clear, confident communication skills and ability to partner with Operations teams while reporting through Finance; ability to hold teams accountable in a professional manner.
