Assistant Facility Security Officer
Capstone Research Corporation is seeking to expand our team. Capstone Research Corporation is headquartered in Huntsville Alabama. We are a customer-oriented engineering services company providing world class research and development support across the Department of Defense (DoD): Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Missile Defense Agency (MDA). We have an immediate opening for an Assistant Facility Security Officer to work in our Huntsville, AL office. The Assistant Facilities Security Officer assists and supports the FSO in ensuring compliance with security requirements for protecting classified information, personnel clearances, physical security, and related operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with and assist third party FSO in administering the facility's security program and ensuring compliance with NISPOM, DoD directives, and other applicable regulations.
  • Manage on-site physical security aspects: access controls, badging, alarm testing, key control, and safeguarding secure areas or SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities).
  • Serve as a member of the Corporate Insider Threat Plan Working Group.
  • Conduct or support security self-inspections, audits, and program reviews to identify vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Process and maintain personnel security clearances (via DISS), including new hires, transfers, reinvestigations, debriefings, and continuous vetting.
  • Support the FSO with security briefings, debriefings, awareness training, and orientations for employees.
  • Manage visitor control: process incoming/outgoing visit requests, coordinate with external entities, greet and escort visitors, and maintain visitor logs.
  • Oversee document control for classified materials: receipt, storage, transmission, reproduction, destruction, and accountability of classified assets.
  • Investigate, document, and report security violations or incidents, and assist in corrective actions.
  • Support incoming/outgoing classified shipments/transmissions and maintain related records.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining security files/records, preparing reports, and assisting with proposals or contracts involving security requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day facilities operations including maintenance, repairs, space planning, office furnishings, vendor coordination, safety, and building access to ensure a safe, secure, and efficient work environment.
  • Oversee facility compliance and physical security requirements, coordinating with Security, IT, landlords, and service providers to support secure areas, emergency preparedness, inspections, and applicable government and company requirements.

Requirements
  • 1-5 years of experience in Security related roles
  • U.S. citizenship and Active Secret Clearance - ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
  • completion of specific training provided by the DCSA through the Center of Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) including FSO for Possessing Facilities Curriculum. Experience in industrial security, personnel security, or related fields
  • Knowledge of NISPOM, DISS, e-QIP, and related DoD security systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Level of physical ability required in managing emergencies, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
