Job description

Position Summary
Commercial Painting Company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support project execution from start to closeout. This role will work closely with the Director of Field Operations and project teams to assist with progress billings, change orders, scheduling, coordination, documentation, and communication across multiple active projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in growing within construction project management, particularly in commercial painting or similar trades.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with progress billings, including compiling backup documentation and tracking billing status
  • Support preparation and tracking of change orders and change requests
  • Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules
  • Help facilitate project meetings, including preparing agendas, taking notes, and tracking action items
  • Monitor and report on job progress, labor status, and overall project milestones
  • Maintain professional email correspondence with owners, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams
  • Track and monitor materials and deliveries to support ongoing project needs
  • Assist with submittals, as-built documentation, closeout packages, warranties, and final project records
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of successful project execution


Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Entry- to mid-level understanding of construction project management principles
  • One year of painting management experience preferred, or experience in a related construction field
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and construction management software such as Procore or similar platforms


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College coursework or degree in construction management, business, or a related field is a plus
  • Field experience in commercial painting or construction trades is preferred
