Position Summary
The Research Assistant (RA) will provide focused data management and administrative support for the Carolinas RESPOND study, an NIH-funded research project testing a social network-based public health intervention to interrupt HIV transmission in North Carolina. The RA will primarily maintain and operate existing REDCap and R-based workflows and contribute to incremental improvements over time. The RA will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and intervention team to maintain data collection tools and databases, manage study participant records, operate and update established pipelines to migrate and clean data, and regularly run and develop internal summary or quality control reports. As a steward of the study's data, the RA will be principally responsible for responding to requests to compile and clean data and may contribute to the preparation and dissemination of findings, all while adhering to all IRB, confidentiality, and data security requirements. This position will also provide occasional project management support, which may include preparing materials for IRB review, taking meeting notes, organizing and submitting receipts, and maintaining shared file drives. The RA will report directly to the study's PI, Dr. Ann Dennis.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
Experience using the R programming language.
Experience using REDCap to design data collection tools and/or manage data.
Familiarity with human subjects research or research ethics.
Familiarity with best practices for handling sensitive research data.
Experience working with populations affected by HIV or related health conditions.
