Essential Duties include:
• Work with the Recycling Operations personnel, collects recyclable material from Campus building loading docks and other locations.
• Assist in the processing and sorting of materials at the recycling center.
• Collect, shred and dispose of sensitive and confidential documents.
• Assist with compost collection pickup from various campus locations.
• Maintain the campus recycle center and staging locations in a clean, well-organized manner.
• Utilize work order system to monitor and complete request for recycle service.
• Assist with College events that require recycling assistance.
• Interact with clients, co-workers, and management in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way.
• Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
• Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support the effective performance of assigned duties, enhance productivity, improve communication and information management, support decision-making, and other responsibilities, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
• Work is performed in inclement weather conditions for the purpose of collecting and loading recyclable materials to the recycling center from building to building. Also, subject to conditions related to construction/demolition zones.
• Lift at least 50 pounds of material or equipment waist high.
• Travel from building to building and floor to floor, in multiple level buildings.
• Lift, pull, and use pushing motions, in repetition, from light to heavy in weight items.
• Climb into vehicles, and trucks as well as climb ladders.
• Stay on your feet for extended periods.
• Operate baler, composting, and shredder recycling equipment.
Hours/Schedule:
• This is a part time position that will work no more than twenty (20) hours per week. Continued employment is conditional, based on the needs of the department and is reviewed at the end of each semester.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possesses and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be available to work days, nights and/or weekends.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write and follow basic operating instructions, and perform basic mathematics computations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform all physical demands of the position.
• Ability to use workplace technology relevant to the position, including the capacity to learn and appropriately leverage emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content, maintain confidentiality, and apply sound judgment and ethical practices in the use of technology.
• May be required to operate a vehicle for approved College business. Must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle operated, meet the College's Authorized Driver requirements, successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record review, and comply with all College vehicle use and safety policies.
