Abt Electronics has an immediate opening for the position of a Recycle Center Associate. We are a family-owned company that has been in business since 1936 and continues to experience strong growth year after year. Abt Electronics specializes in electronics, appliance & furniture sales, delivery, installation, servicing, and recycling of all the products we sell. We are a perennial winner of the Chicago Tribune's Top Workplace Award. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible & friendly Recycle Center Associate to join our team. If this is you, we want to hear from you!
In addition, must be comfortable contributing/working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and fun work environment. Primary duties include:
  • Ability to dolly appliances on their own depending on the size/type of appliance
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • Sorting TVs into different bins of either flat or tube TVs
  • Neatly wrapping TVs on a skid
  • Unloading the truck of electronics and sorting wire, metal, receivers, and misc. electronics
  • Unloading/sorting recyclables such as plastic, cardboard, metal, and Styrofoam
  • Maintaining the cardboard baler, Styrofoam machine, and garbage conveyor operational for the fleet to unload their recyclables
  • Safely operate warehouse machinery & tools
  • Maintaining a clean workplace

Job Requirements:
  • Pass a physical & drug test
  • Shift starts at 12 pm
  • Forklift, squeeze truck & cherry picker experience desired but not necessary
  • Able to lift/move products weighing 50-200lbs
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Available to work 12 pm-9 pm (Sundays and 1 weekday off)
  • Be friendly & respectful toward coworkers
