Job description

Imaging Assistant

The Imaging Assistant is an unlicensed multi-skilled worker who supports clerical and patient care by performing specific clerical and technical tasks that will provide departmental support as determined by the department director. A Radiologic Technologist supervises care provided by the Imaging Assistant.

High School Graduate preferred or equivalent. Surgical Technologist, CNA or Medical Assistant preferred.

Minimum of one year of experience in a related healthcare field is preferred.

Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles. Must have verbal and written communication skills. Effective computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook. Ability to learn new computer software applications. Must know medical terminology. Exceptional phone etiquette.

BLS (AHA)

Capable of working in a team environment. Effectively communicates with physicians# offices /patients to schedule procedures. Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and proper phone etiquette. Professionally greet all customers that call or present themselves to the Radiology Department in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with physicians, office personnel and CRH department personnel. Maintain departmental flow, including answering the telephone and providing information/direction for patients and other guests. Transport patients to and from the Radiology department. Dress and room patients within the department of Radiology. Provide patient / family education regarding exam and process. Set up and clean-up of exam rooms. Assist with procedures within the defined scope of practice. Assist in the care of the patient, as needed. Respond to questions from patients / family concerns regarding the procedure within their scope of practice. Perform technical supportive services under the supervision of a technologist. Demonstrate the ability to utilize Cody Regional Health systems, software and modules effectively to perform duties. Address necessary paperwork to optimize departmental workflow. Provide support and assistance to technologists, clinicians and nursing staff, maintaining workflow efficiency and minimizing patient inconvenience, while ensuring timely processing of patients and quick turnover of patient procedures. Coordinate and distribute modality schedules daily in a complete, accurate and timely manner to ensure a safe and efficient workflow for the following day. Perform reminder calls to patients regarding their appointments or to perform screening questions in preparation for the procedures. Will provide patients prep instructions as needed. Assist with monitoring stock supplies as needed. Perform patient intake into the practice; collect, screen and record patient-specific information into the imaging related setting (verification of exam, medical history, medication usage, labs values, etc.). Demonstrate ability to document and communicate all pertinent information in a precise and clear manner. Execute proper maintenance of protected health information according to HIPAA guidelines. MRI # CT - conduct research on surgical implants and foreign bodies, providing the MRI technologists and radiologists with safety guidelines for the devices. Participate in annual education to promote a higher level of expertise and in compliance with hospital annual education requirements. Support front office and scheduling duties as needed.
