Job description

Clinical Applications Trainer
Position Summary
Orthopaedic Specialty Group is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy Clinical Applications Trainer with strong critical thinking and communication skills. This role is responsible for training and supporting clinical and administrative staff on practice management and electronic health record (EHR) systems, while helping optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency across the organization.
The ideal candidate is comfortable leading both individual and group training sessions, building strong relationships with providers and staff, and serving as a key resource for clinical applications and technology. Experience with athenaPractice and/or athenaOne is preferred, along with a solid understanding of healthcare workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Software & Workflow Training
  • Develop and deliver training programs for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Conduct onboarding and ongoing education for physicians, physician assistants, medical assistants, and front-office personnel.
  • Create and maintain training materials, user guides, and workflow documentation.
  • Provide training tailored to orthopedic workflows, including imaging integration, surgical scheduling, documentation, and patient management processes.
  • Assess training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

Clinical Application Support & Optimization
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for EHR and practice management systems.
  • Assist staff with troubleshooting software issues and workflow challenges.
  • Collaborate with departments to improve efficiency and optimize system utilization.
  • Support software upgrades, new feature implementations, and technology rollouts.
  • Stay informed of system updates, enhancements, and best practices.

Compliance & Security
  • Ensure all training and system usage aligns with HIPAA regulations and organizational privacy standards.
  • Promote proper handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Reinforce security protocols and compliance requirements during all training activities.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT teams to identify training needs.
  • Build positive working relationships with providers and staff across all departments.
  • Act as a liaison between end users and technology teams to facilitate issue resolution and workflow improvements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience, preferably in a medical practice or orthopedic setting.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Experience with athenaPractice and/or athenaOne strongly preferred.
  • Previous training, education, leadership, or coaching experience.
  • Strong computer proficiency and aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
