Job Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing standard concrete, soils, aggregate, and other construction material testing in the field or in our laboratory to ensure the quality of material being tested meets the required specifications. This is a broad representation of the type of tasks and requirements required of Quality Control Inspectors at Clarkson Construction Company.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Sample and test construction materials such as concrete, aggregates, and soils.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current quality standards and specifications.
  • Interact professionally with client representatives at project sites.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of new material technologies throughout the company.
  • Assist with maintenance of lab and field equipment.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and maintaining safe working conditions.
  • Responsible for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and following OSHA standards.
  • Preparation and submittal of reports to the Document Control System.
  • Seek and obtain additional training as needed for changing industry testing requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of materials used.
  • Knowledge of technologies and equipment used at Clarkson Construction Company.

  • ACI Concrete Certification – preferred
  • Nuclear Gauge Certification – preferred
  • ACI Strength Certification – preferred
  • Field Aggregate Certification – preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, stand; Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • This position requires in-person work.
  • Work is often performed next to live traffic, in outdoor weather conditions, with and around large heavy civil construction machinery.
  • Work is also performed in a lab setting.
  • May be exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including night shifts and overtime, as assigned.
