Job description

BLUSA Defense Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Manager, Quality Control to support and oversee quality control operations within our manufacturing, and product realization environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all products meet stringent industry, customer, and regulatory requirements, including those related to defense and aerospace standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, leadership capability, and a continuous improvement mindset to help maintain and enhance our quality control system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Manager in daily operations of the Quality Control department
  • Supervise and mentor quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Monitor as needed submission of product with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, customer-specific requirements)
  • Oversee inspection processes including incoming, in-process, and final inspections
  • Review and approve inspection reports, test results, and quality documentation
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues
  • Have an awareness of, and assist as requested, with internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits
  • Oversee proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • 3โ€“7 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment (defense/aerospace strongly preferred)
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Experience with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, gauges, etc.)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Quick learner ERP/MRP systems and quality management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
