Crowder Construction Company's Civil & Environmental Division, an ENR Top 400 contractor specializing in water treatment and wastewater treatment plant construction, has an Assistant Project Manager position. This individual must have all of the following:

  • water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant project management experience.
  • the ability to construct $5 million in contract value.
  • a minimum of five years of experience.

Primary function of a Assistant Project Manager:  

Provide management assistance to multiple projects, help establish project objectives and policies, maintain liaison with prime contracts client, and monitor construction and financial activities. Provide technical engineering to insure work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instruction applicable to one or more disciplines.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Project Management Assistance

  • Create, update, and manage the project schedule.
  • Develop the project budget upon assignment and notification of award.
  • Assist Project Manager with preparation of the billing of material.
  • Assist with the preparation and submittal of all documentation and records required for change orders.
  • Assist with the analysis of cost for extra work.
  • Assist in the overall coordination of the project including subcontractors.
  • Assist with all other daily Project Management duties as necessary.
  • Review weekly Labor reports. Advise project superintendent, with input from the Project Manager, on crew sizes, production rates, methods of construction, sizing of equipment, etc. Know your costs.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate forecasting at all times.

 Engineering Responsibilities

  • Have a thorough knowledge of job specifications. Communicate and address all changes in the scope of the original contract with the engineer and/or owner in a timely and effective manner.  Prepare change orders and submit.
  • Expedite material procurement, approval, and delivery as necessary to promote accurate and efficient construction of the project.
  • Prepare and track all necessary submittals.
  • Obtain required material certifications.
  • Order necessary materials and supplies.
  • Maintain project files, current drawings, and production records.
  • Approve receiving invoices.
  • Process vendor and subcontractor invoices. Understand and assist in the approval and development of schedule of values. Approve payment to subcontractors, material suppliers, and miscellaneous invoices in a timely manner.
  • Write and maintain subcontracts and purchase agreements.
  • Insures that submittals are being reviewed properly and submitted in a timely fashion. Expedite and track equipment and material delivery ahead of schedule.

Implementation

  • Create and maintain positive relationships with owners and engineers.
  • Complete projects within time and budget.
  • Optimize project cash flow.
  • Create and maintain positive subcontractor relations.

 Safety:

  • Monitor the project(s) under his/her responsibility so a safe work place is maintained and Crowder's safety policy is administered.
  • Advise the Project Superintendent/Manager of ways to improve job site safety.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4 year engineering degree or equivalent required
  • Must have experience using Primavera P6 or similar software
  • 5 years of extensive experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required
  • Ability to construct a $5 million contract
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential
  • Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver's license
