As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of commissioning and building performance projects for healthcare facilities, data centers, laboratories, universities, and other complex environments. You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and owners to help ensure building systems perform as intended while contributing to projects that make buildings safer, more efficient, and more reliable.


In this role, you'll support project planning, commissioning activities, testing, documentation, scheduling, and client communication while gaining hands-on experience across all phases of project delivery. You'll help coordinate project teams, solve technical challenges, track progress, and contribute to high-quality outcomes that create lasting value for our clients.


This position is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with diverse teams, and learning the technical and leadership skills needed to grow into a Project Manager or Commissioning Authority role. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution activities to help deliver successful commissioning and building performance projects.ย 
  • Commissioning Support: Assist with system startup, inspections, functional testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems.ย 
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, test procedures, deficiency logs, project records, and client deliverables.ย 
  • Client & Team Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with owners, contractors, engineers, vendors, and project stakeholders while supporting effective communication throughout project delivery.ย 
  • Problem Solving & Quality Assurance: Help identify, document, and resolve project issues while ensuring systems meet project requirements, performance goals, and quality standards.ย 
  • Project Management Support: Assist with schedule management, meeting coordination, proposal support, change management, risk identification, and project tracking activities.ย 
  • Professional Growth: Continuously develop your knowledge of building systems, commissioning processes, project management practices, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences, or a related field.ย 
  • 2+ years of experience in commissioning, project management, building systems, controls, construction, healthcare, laboratory, mission-critical, or other high-reliability environments.ย 
  • Knowledge of MEP systems, building automation systems (BAS), control systems, and building performance fundamentals.ย 
  • Experience supporting project delivery activities including schedule management, budgeting, client coordination, documentation management, and risk identification.ย 
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, construction documents, and sequences of operation.ย 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.ย 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and project collaboration tools.ย 
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting healthcare, data center, laboratory, higher education, industrial, federal, or other complex facility projects.
  • Experience with commissioning, startup, testing, balancing (TAB), controls, quality assurance, or construction turnover processes.
  • Professional certifications such as LEED AP, PMP, CCP, CBCP, CxA, EIT, PE, or similar industry credentials are a plus but not required.

Working Conditions:


Typical Travel: Up to 50% (Regular travel to project sites will be required.)

Work Environment: Hybrid environment of office and in field for site visits. Site visits may include exposure to construction environments, uneven grounds, varying weather conditions, and field interactions.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform site inspections, which may include walking project sites, climbing ladders, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces when needed. Reasonable accommodation may be provided.

Partners with: Project Managers, Commissioning Authorities, Engineers, Contractors, Owners, Design Teams, and Operations Personnel.

Key Representative to: EEI clients, contractors, vendors and project stakeholders.
