Job description

Are you looking to build your career with a respected commercial general contractor that values mentorship, collaboration, and long-term growth?

NDC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our growing team. In this role, you'll partner with experienced Project Managers and Superintendents to help deliver commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their construction career while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle—not just one portion of a project.

What You'll Do

  • Support Project Managers throughout all phases of commercial construction projects.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and coordination.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams to keep projects moving forward.
  • Track project costs, budgets, and schedules while helping ensure projects remain on time and within budget.
  • Assist with estimating, buyout, subcontractor management, and project financial reporting.
  • Help identify and resolve project issues while maintaining strong client relationships.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience preferred (we're flexible for the right candidate).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in commercial construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.

We're Open to Diverse Construction Backgrounds

We know that great Assistant Project Managers don't all follow the same career path. If you have commercial construction experience and are ready to continue growing your career, we'd love to hear from you.

We're interested in candidates with experience such as:

  • Assistant Project Manager
  • Project Engineer
  • Project Coordinator
  • Construction Foreman
  • Superintendent
  • Estimator
  • Commercial construction professionals working for specialty subcontractors who are interested in transitioning to a General Contractor
  • Experienced construction professionals looking for a long-term opportunity with mentorship and career growth

If your background isn't an exact match but you have strong construction knowledge, a willingness to learn, and a collaborative mindset, we encourage you to apply.

Why Join NDC?

  • Work on commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, gaining exposure to the entire project lifecycle.
  • Learn directly from experienced Project Managers and company leadership.
  • Join a collaborative team that values mentorship, professional development, and internal growth.
  • Make meaningful contributions while continuing to build your project management career.
  • Be part of a company that invests in its people and promotes long-term success.
  • If you're looking for an opportunity where you can continue developing your construction management career while working alongside an experienced team, we'd love to connect with you.
