Job description

Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 72,000 individuals and families each year at our 100 locations, including 10,000 youth.  CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families live in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

Short Term Housing Program: This program provides 35 units of congregate and transitional housing to PLWHA who are homeless or at serious risk of homelessness.  There are 7 units of housing at the program’s congregate facility located at 27 Winthrop Street and 15 families and 13 singles residing in community apartments. Clients residing in congregate has their own lockable room but shares common space such as the bathrooms, living room and kitchen.  STHP housing program provides a model of service that addresses the interrelated problems of HIV and homelessness. Through our 24-hour congregate residence and the apartments in the community, we prepare our clients for permanent housing.  Clients receive case management services and housing readiness training in a supportive environment which helps to prepare clients to find and maintain permanent, stable housing.   Staff will also pay special attention to factors precipitating housing loss and current needs and difficulties. This housing for a max of 2 years.

 

Position: Program Supervisor

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: 27 Winthrop Street Brooklyn, NY 11225

What The Program Supervisor Does:

  • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
  • Train staff in program responsibilities, processes, and procedures, and ensure that all staff meets contract requirements in their daily work.
  • Work with staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise all day-to-day activities of direct reporting staff.
  • On a periodic basis, observe direct reporting staff engaging with clients and/or supervisory staff.
  • Conduct weekly client progress reviews with staff.
  • Conduct periodic internal file review and implement Quality Assurance measures as needed to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Provide crisis counseling to clients as needed.
  • Prepare contract reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
  • Complete program forms and reports for the agency’s finance, payroll and human resources departments as required.
  • Assist in the analysis of program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
  • Confer with the Senior Vice President on programmatic and operational matters.
  • Attend staff/funder/outside agency meetings as requested.
  • Review and sign time sheets.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • As needed, conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and/or clients’ families and periodic reassessments.
  • Prescreen clients over the telephone for eligibility and schedule intake appointments as needed.
  • Plan as needed, coordinate and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation for clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and two years of applicable experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Relevant experience as described above, preferably in a mid-sized (250+ employees) organization.
  • Knowledge about, understanding of, and ability to work closely with persons Chronically Homeless, and or living with HIV/AIDS and related issues.
  • Familiarity with housing in congregate/transitional settings
  • Excellent written & verbal communication.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation: $60,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

 

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
