Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Without Tenure – Congenital Cardiac Surgeon

Seattle Children's Hospital and the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor, without tenure (WOT), by reason of funding with an anticipated start date of December 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment (3-year term renewable for Assistant Professor) beginning December 2026.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor, $54,167-$70,834 per month, Associate Professor, $70,834-$87,500 per month, Professor $75,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide the full spectrum of cardiac surgical care for pediatric patients, including neonatal surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical cardiac support. The primary site of practice for this position is Seattle Children's Hospital, and may participate at other sites consistent with regional affiliations and strategy. Congenital Cardiac Surgeons at Seattle Children's Hospital perform 500 cases annually, providing the full spectrum of cardiac surgical care for pediatric patients, including neonatal surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical cardiac support. This position will actively participate in quality assessment and quality improvement programs at both institutions. Additional responsibilities include engagement in the selection and training of residents and fellows.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • MD degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, or foreign equivalent (inclusive of completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE))
  • Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
