Position Summary

Houston Christian University seeks Adjunct Professors to join the Department of English with expertise in English Literature and/ or Freshman Composition.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use a course syllabus for each course, following established departmental and institutional guidelines.
  • Provide timely, quality access to students via personal consultation, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students by established means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and to inform them in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Submit grades and required forms in a timely fashion.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • MA, MFA, or PhD in English Literature, Creative Writing, or Composition and Rhetoric.
  • Ability to teach courses in English Literature and Composition from a Christian worldview and will demonstrate enthusiasm for our classical liberal arts core curriculum which includes embracing the need for these courses to complement each other.
