OVERVIEW- FULL TIME

Oral Roberts University (ORU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the College of Arts & Cultural Studies, School of Worship, Media, and Performing Arts. ORU seeks a versatile artist-educator who embodies ORU's "Whole Person" philosophy and is dedicated to developing Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through musical excellence.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Applied Piano, Class Piano, Piano Skills for Contemporary Worship and other courses as appropriate to the candidate's strengths, beginning in late August of 2026.

The Department of Music offers the following degrees: B.M. in Music Education, B.M. in Performance (Vocal, Instrumental, and Keyboard), B.S. in Commercial Music, B.S. in Worship Leadership, and B.A. in Music. ORU is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and is an All-Steinway School.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach applied lessons in classical piano to undergraduate music majors and non-majors, teach and mentor students in worship piano, emphasizing lead-sheet reading, chord-chart navigation in traditional and contemporary worship styles.
  • Oversee and instruct group piano classes for music majors, focusing on functional keyboard skills.
  • Lead courses in piano improvisation (or integrated sessions within applied lessons).
  • Preference given to candidates with the ability to teach music theory courses within the core curriculum.
  • Additional assignments maybe made based on departmental needs and the candidate’s qualification.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A terminal degree (Doctorate) in Music (e.g., DMA, PhD) from an accredited institution or a master's degree (MM) with commensurate experience is required.
  • Minimum experience of 5 (five) years of professional performance and/or collegiate teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classical performance, worship leading/performance, and improvisation.
  • Spiritual Commitment: Candidates must fully support ORU's Statement of Faith, Honor Code, and mission.
