Position Summary:

Harris-Stowe State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship to join the Anheuser-Busch School of Business. This faculty role combines practical instruction with collaborative leadership to shape the next generation of entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate brings industry experience, instructional excellence, and a proactive mindset to support business students and lead initiatives in partnership with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).

Primary Responsibilities:

Teaching & Instruction

  • Teach entrepreneurship-focused courses such as entrepreneurship, small business management, startup strategy, and applied innovation.
  • Employ hands-on, real-world learning methods including project-based instruction and business simulations.
  • Use relevant technologies and tools to enhance student learning and engagement.

Collaboration with CIE

  • Collaborate with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to facilitate business plan competitions, student ventures, and community engagement efforts.
  • Support interdisciplinary initiatives that advance innovation and entrepreneurial learning across campus.

Curriculum & Program Development

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the entrepreneurship curriculum.
  • Identify opportunities for new course offerings and co-curricular experiences aligned with market trends and business demands.

Advising & Student Support

  • Advise and mentor students interested in business ownership and leadership.
  • Encourage student participation in local and regional entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Service & Institutional Engagement

  • Engage in departmental, school, and university service, including committee participation.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that support the mission and vision of the Anheuser-Busch School of Business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD or DBA) in Business, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated experience in entrepreneurship, small business ownership, or startup development
  • Strong teaching ability and interest in applied learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the college level in both in-person and online formats
  • Experience working with incubators, accelerators, or entrepreneurial support organizations
  • Familiarity with business technologies and tools for venture development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead student-centered, experiential instruction
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Understanding of business model development, startup ecosystems, and entrepreneurial strategy

Work Environment:

  • Standard classroom and office settings with occasional off-campus business engagement
