FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Professor of Psychology position is responsible for teaching courses in the discipline area of Psychology.ย 

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Teaches a typical load of 12 semester-hours of undergraduate courses each semester in Psychology in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Develop and design curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a master's degree, including 18 hours in Psychology or a related field.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level in traditional classroom settings and/or an established interest in scholarship to seek publications in refereed journals and other scholarly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution.ย 
  • Threeย or more years of teaching experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment within a university setting, providing both in-person and online instruction. Utilizing standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and email, along with technology-based learning materials and learning management systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical requirements of the job will consist of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time while instructing and/or engaging in meetings.
