Description:

America's Test Kitchen is on a mission to find an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Editor to join our TV & Video department. In this role, you will assist in various tasks within the post-production process and play a key role in media management and archiving. This is an onsite position. Our HQ is located in Boston’s Seaport. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, curious, self-directed, and comfortable in a fast-paced production environment. This position reports to the Senior Director of Post-Production.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with overall TV, Video and OTT post-production needs.
  • Manage media transfer and backup during TV, OTT & Video shoots.
  • Ingest and archive footage, assets, and all final deliverables.
  • Use CatDV workflows to organize and log assets, rename clips, make proxies, and prepare footage for Video, TV, OTT edits.
  • Multicam, sync, gather elements, and prepare Premiere Production projects for editors.
  • Support offsite and onsite editors on all edit projects
  • Create and maintain a library for shared b-roll, music, GFX, and SFX.
  • Build and oversee a digital video library of all ATK productions.
  • Create platform specific exports for various digital and OTT platforms.
  • Edit promos and extra promotional content for Social networks.
  • Handle basic color correction, audio, and motion graphic tasks.
  • Generate and review closed captions scripts.
  • Log stock and music cue sheets.
  • Build and maintain deliverable checklists.
  • Track specs and other requirements for all deliverables.
  • Build and maintain an external, digital and cloud based Archive of existing and back catalog content.
  • Oversee an inventory of drives and raids.
  • Implement quality control review for video and audio files.
  • Manage editing to bring videos up to specs.
  • Assist with various editing tasks of show elements and short segments.
  • Package shows for broadcast and streaming delivery.
  • Generate YouTube, OTT and Web cut-downs and deliverables.
  • Facilitate final file delivery to various platforms by outlined deadlines.
  • Support with project management for video production/post-production.

Additional Requirements

  • 1-3 years working as an Assistant Editor on Television or Video productions.
  • Comfortable with Mac and Windows based computer systems.
  • Experience with file servers and file management of media assets (CatDV).
  • Knowledgeable with encoding, transcoding, proxy workflows, and aspect ratios.
  • Competent in Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer and After Effects.
  • Experience with motion graphics, color grading and audio mix is a plus.
  • Familiarity with closed captioning software (Stanza) and Video Management Platforms (Zype).

This position is located in our Boston, MA office in the Seaport district. It is the expectation that the person in this role will work in the office 5 days per week.


Salary Range:

$56,000 - $58,000


The range provided is based on what we reasonably expect to pay for this job as of the time of posting. The actual salary offered will be determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, job-related knowledge, skills, geographical location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
