Position: Assistant Principal (Grades 5-12)


Location:  North Judson-San Pierre High School & North Judson-San Pierre Middle School


Job Description:


The Assistant Principal serves as a key administrative leader for grades 5 through 12, split across North Judson-San Pierre High School and North Judson-San Pierre Middle School. Working collaboratively with building leadership, the Assistant Principal fosters a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment that promotes student achievement and positive culture.

  • Student Management & Discipline: Implement and enforce student conduct policies ensuring due process; manage disciplinary referrals, investigations, detentions, suspensions, and restorative practices; maintain a visible administrative presence to ensure safety.
  • Attendance Tracking & Support: Oversee daily attendance tracking and truancy prevention; collaborate with counselors, social workers, and families to address chronic absenteeism; facilitate attendance hearings and parent conferences.
  • Staff Observation & Instructional Support: Conduct formal and informal classroom observations and evaluations for certified staff; provide constructive feedback and coaching; assist in guiding non-certified personnel and support staff.
  • Extra-Curricular & Facility Supervision: Supervise afternoon, evening, and weekend extracurricular events, athletic contests, and school functions; coordinate event logistics, student safety, and crowd management.
  • Additional Administrative Duties: Assist in coordinating building safety drills and maintaining emergency response plans; perform other leadership tasks assigned by the Building Principals.


Qualifications:


  • Valid Indiana Building Level Administrator License (or eligible for immediate Indiana administrative licensure)
  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience (middle or high school level preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in student discipline, attendance intervention, or coaching/sponsoring programs
  • Strong communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficiency with school management software (e.g., PowerSchool) and data tracking tools
  • Ability to build positive relationships with middle and high school students, staff, and rural community members
