Job Summary:

A Flex Position Associate is a vital point of contact and knowledge source for customers. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service through reception duties, sales and product education, and building a loyal customer base. They assist with inventory management tasks, including merchandise tracking and restocking, process compliant transactions with
accurate cash handling, and maintain store cleanliness and organization. This adaptable role includes assisting management with store activities and operations while ensuring all practices comply with regulatory requirements.
  
Duties/Responsibilities:

Reception
  • Warmly greet and check in guests upon arrival, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Verify customer identification, age, and required documentation such as medical marijuana cards.
  • Direct customers to appropriate areas or staff members based on their needs.
  • Process vendor check-ins and coordinate with security personnel as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and management via walkie-talkie.
  • Answer incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Prepare popcorn for public consumption.
Sales
  • Guide customers through their cannabis purchasing journey with expert product
  • knowledge and personalized recommendations.
  • Educate consumers on available products, accessories, consumption methods, and industry terminology.
  • Address customer questions and concerns to build trust and foster a loyal customer base.
  • Demonstrate product use and features as needed to enhance customer understanding.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service that supports informed purchasing decisions
Inventory Assistance
  • Assist the inventory department with stocking shelves, labeling merchandise, and conducting inventory counts.
  • Support compliance with all inventory tracking and reporting requirements.
  • Complete additional tasks as directed by Management.
Operations & Compliance
  • Maintain store cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, dusting, and organizing displays to create a welcoming environment.
  • Ensure all practices and transactions are executed in accordance with state and local regulatory protocols.
  • Store products properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
  • Utilize essential computer functions and POS systems effectively.
  • Complete other duties as directed by Management.
Transactions & Accuracy
  • Process payments with precision while ensuring full compliance in all transactions.
  • Maintain accurate counts of stock, cash drawer, and POS system records with zero discrepancies.
  • Perform daily cash handling and drawer balancing procedures.
  • Verify that the correct cannabis products are included in each customer's package.
  • Unpack, sort, count, and label merchandise as directed.
  • Continuously expand product knowledge to better serve customers and meet sales goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as department manuals.
  • Ability to communicate politely and effectively with customers.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision under stressful conditions.
  • Valid City of Port Hueneme ID badge.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and operational guidelines established by the California Department of Cannabis Control, the City of Port Hueneme, and the Company.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience of one year (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and consumption methods (preferred).
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and frequently use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee may often stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Specific visual abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
