Budgeted Min: $27.58
Testing & Certification Requirements: Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in testing and must successfully pass each phase to advance. Testing may include an assessment center, written examination, oral board interview, and physical agility testing consisting of a 500-yard run, 99-yard obstacle course, 6-foot chain link fence, 6-foot solid fence, and 165-lb. body drag.

We are accepting applications on a continual basis to employ individuals who are interested in seeking a career in law enforcement as a Kingman Police Officer. This position operates in a 24/7 law enforcement environment and includes academy training, certification, and field training for qualified non-certified recruits. The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to respond effectively to both routine and complex situations. The Kingman Police Department is accredited through the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program and was one of the first agencies in Arizona to receive this accreditation.

What You'll Need To Be Successful In This Role
  • A high school diploma or GED (college coursework in criminal justice or related education or experience is preferred)
  • Be at least 21 years of age by the completion of the police academy
  • A valid Arizona State Driver's License
  • Arizona State Certification as a Police Officer, or the ability to attend and complete academy training to obtain AZ POST certification
  • The ability to become and maintain TOC Level B Certification
  • The ability to pass an extensive law enforcement background investigation, including fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and other related employment testing
  • The ability to communicate clearly, prepare accurate reports, analyze situations quickly, and make appropriate decisions under stress
  • The ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-backs

What You'll Do For The City Of Kingman
Patrol, Enforcement & Emergency Response (45%): Patrol assigned areas, respond to dispatched calls, enforce criminal and traffic laws, make arrests, conduct searches, control crowds, direct traffic, and respond to emergencies including evacuations and hazardous situations to ensure public safety and welfare.
Investigations & Evidence Handling (25%): Conduct at-scene and follow-up investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, collect and preserve evidence, prepare investigative findings, serve subpoenas and warrants, testify in court, and support the judicial process.
Community Interaction & Public Assistance (15%):Interact with the public, mediate disputes, assist individuals in need, perform welfare and security checks, communicate with informants, and maintain professional working relationships with community members and partner agencies.
Reporting, Records & Professional Standards (15%): Prepare detailed reports, maintain required records accurately and timely, operate law enforcement tools and systems, maintain proficiency with equipment, follow department policies, work safely, and support department operations through regular attendance and professionalism.
