Job description

The Field Service Technician III is responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of pipeline related equipment on customer site in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The Technician must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and diagrams. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. The Field Service Technician III will report to the Field Services Manager. Provides oversight to customers and pipeline construction contractor assigned to each pipeline pigging system installation, operations maintenance and training as required. Frequent contact with customers and other personnel within WeldFit
Assist in the training of level I & II techs regarding troubleshooting and the repair od units, assuring completion of repairs in a safe and timely manner. Work with level IIII technicians, assuring that all materials required for operations and repairs are ordered correctly. Assist with maintaining and tracking inventory needed to support pigging services.
Duties/Expectations:
  • Manage individual projects
  • Full understanding of PLC systems regarding wiring and troubleshooting PLC issues
  • Commissioning of pigging systems to bring the pigging system into service and preform a field acceptance test (FAT) to ensure the systems performance.
  • Help to identify new opportunities for WeldFit to expand its current service offerings.
  • Ensure all customer issues are satisfactorily resolved utilizing engineering, manufacturing, and other teams as needed.
  • Oversee the in-field pipeline assembly and fabrication of temporary and permanent pigging facilities as required by the service agreement.
  • Provide training for customer operations personnel on launcher and receiving pigs, operation of the pigging system, and troubleshooting the pigging system
  • Maintains DOT Operator Qualification task requirements to work on regulated pipeline systems.
  • Provide pipeline operators with design support for the installation of automated pigging systems or retrofitting existing pigging system with automation.
  • Provide preventative maintenance on customer owned launcher/receiver systems to maintain the operation and extend the service -life of the pigging system.
  • Maintain daily operating reports for equipment utilized on customer projects. Completes and submits weekly expense and time-sheet reports as scheduled.
  • Ensure maintenance of pipeline pigging equipment is completed and documented to develop pigging reports for customers.
  • Be able to navigate the online files such as F & O-Drive to properly look up parts & drawings
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license with clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility in plant
  • Must be able to lift and carry lightweight to heavyweight objects and use of power and hand tools.
  • Ability to work in close quarters, kneeling, squatting, sitting.
  • Visual hearing abilities with or without correction

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry/work related experience.
