Pipeline Integrity Engineer – Gas Transmission

Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid – Walker Cisler Building | 3 days on-site)
Local Requirement: Must be based in the Detroit area or able to commute
Pay Rate: $75.46/hour
Contract: Long-term (2+ years) with extension or direct hire potential

Overview
We are seeking a Pipeline Integrity Engineer to support gas transmission pipeline systems, with a focus on TIMP programs, in-line inspection (ILI), and regulatory compliance under 49 CFR 192.

This role is ideal for engineers with experience in pipeline integrity, corrosion, or compliance within utility or energy environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain Transmission Integrity Management Programs (TIMP) in compliance with 49 CFR 192 Subpart O
  • Perform risk modeling, threat identification, and integrity assessments across pipeline assets
  • Lead or support ILI programs, including run planning, data analysis, dig selection, and validation
  • Analyze inspection data (smart pigging, UT, corrosion monitoring) to identify anomalies and mitigation strategies
  • Review and approve engineering designs, work orders, and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with ASME B31.8 and API 1160 standards
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams on integrity initiatives
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and data requests
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, or Petroleum Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Pipeline integrity
    • Corrosion engineering
    • Pipeline compliance / regulatory programs
  • Working knowledge of pipeline inspection methods (ILI, pigging, corrosion monitoring)
  • Familiarity with 49 CFR 192, ASME B31.8, or API 1160
  • Experience with GIS tools (ArcMap) and data analysis
