Manual Packer
Sofidel America in Duluth, MN is currently seeking a Manual Packer to join our team. We are searching for a candidate who is local to the area and is looking for a long-term role in a stable environment. This position status is non-exempt and works a Modified DuPont schedule consisting of 12-hour day and night shifts, rotating weekends, and periodic transitions between days and nights. Candidates should carefully consider the schedule before applying.

The Manual Packer's primary responsibility is to support the Converting department to meet the production goals established for the line in a safe manner. This position works closely with the Napkin Machine Operators, the Packaging Operators, and the Material Handler roles. This role reports to the Converting Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Safely perform various duties to operate, set up and maintain manual and automatic equipment and processes.
  2. Produce a finished product that meets customer and company requirements in execution of daily production schedule according to the SOP for the labeler and stretch wrapper.
  3. Able to continually evaluate the process and make corrections and/or suggestions to meet the company objectives.
  4. Flow to work as needed to assist in maintaining a safe and productive environment.
  5. Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and company policies at all times and correctly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  6. Understand and apply customer and product specifications to ensure finished goods meet quality standards.
  7. Perform quality checks and audits with honesty and integrity to ensure compliance with published standards.
  8. Maintain the cleanliness of the operating area and equipment to minimize risk of contamination.
  9. Perform regular inspections and evaluations of equipment condition, including safety guards and systems.
  10. Support and maintain a workplace culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  11. Assist other operators, maintenance, or production personnel as needed in additional production duties.

Education, Skills and /or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; six (6) to twelve (12) months experience manufacturing inventory and purchasing and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work in a cross functionally across departments and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as needed with strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to:
Occasionally: climb ladders, ascend/descend stairs or ramps while carrying tools. Bend forward at waist, crouch, push, pull twist, drive, handle, reach above the shoulders, reach below shoulders, squat and lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently: Sit, stand, walk, speak and hear clearly, work with others, and lift up to 30 pounds.
