Job description

For more than 30 years, Mail Dispatch has been a trusted leader in final-mile delivery and courier services, providing reliable same-day and next-day delivery throughout California. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead San Diego-based operations and take ownership of daily transportation operations, team performance, customer service, and operational results. We are looking for a hands-on leader who leads by example, develops people, holds teams accountable, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop operations personnel, dispatch staff, drivers, and couriers.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-performing team members and independent contractors.
  • Oversee daily same-day and next-day delivery operations and ensure service commitments are met.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, dispatch, routing, and daily workflow.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including on-time service, productivity, staffing, and route performance.
  • Identify operational challenges, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Resolve escalated customer and operational issues with urgency and professionalism.
  • Partner with senior leadership to improve efficiency, service, and overall terminal performance.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, courier, final-mile delivery, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing drivers, couriers, dispatch teams, or field operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with staffing, scheduling, routing, and performance management.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, urgency, and integrity.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.


Compensation & Benefits
