Description:

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the assisting the Operations Manager with day-to-day operations of the facility maintenance, communication with third party contractors, ensuring compliance with company policies and city and state facility maintenance staff. They will assist with managing company resources to stay within budget. This position is responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of the ice events to guarantee a safe, clean facility. This person will assist the Operations Manager with the maintenance of the facility’s ice, equipment, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems and ensure the facility’s interior and exterior are clean and functional at all times. This position is not eligible for remote work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Operations Manager and Regional Operations Manager with facility maintenance
  • Ensure operations equipment is properly maintained and functional
  • Maintain the building’s appearance to company standards
  • Assist with ice installation and ice removal
  • Supervise and complete preventative building maintenance, tasks, and projects
  • Identify and assign work orders to staff, follow up, and review completed work
  • Work with Operations Manager to develop and implement goals, objectives, and work standards
  • Work with third party contractors on related maintenance of the building and site
  • Assist Operations Manager to streamline work processes
  • Communicates mechanical repair needs to the Engineering department in a timely manner
  • Ensure facility readiness and smooth operation of events and programs

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Operations Manager and Regional Operations Manager to ensure projects stay within budget guidelines
  • Ensure a safe environment for all patrons and employees by following the Life Safety and Emergency Program
  • Performs manager on duty responsibilities as needed
  • Implement and practice facility regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Anticipate problems and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely communication

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working in the operation and/or management of ice arena facilities or similar with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity is preferred
  • Knowledge of day-to-day ice rink business with experience in general building maintenance and the use of maintenance equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, outlets, lighting, and lighting ballasts
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and 12v vehicular systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC with ability to manipulate systems to environmental needs
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards
  • Self-starter with ability to analyze situations and develop solutions to problems, strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to motivate and lead a team
  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Experienced in ice maintenance and installation
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Required certificates - OSHA 10 Hour general industry, Ammonia Safety, Crowd Management, or a willingness to obtain these certificates within six (6) months of hiring
  • Experience driving forklifts, scissor, and boom lifts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands and Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle large objects, tools, carts and drive machinery. Reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, and hear for up to 8-14 hours a day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the function, and may be also exposed to adverse conditions including inclement weather, noise, fumes etc.
