Additional Information:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager oversees daily operations in area of responsibility. This includes coordination of activities related to effective medication use and includes oversight of all inpatient pharmacy medication distribution services. This person also works closely with the pharmacy leadership team to optimize the provision of pharmaceutical care and achievement of other department and hospital strategic goals and objectives.

Required Education:

Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (if obtained prior to 2000)

Description

  1. Manages day to day operations, working with personnel to provide safe and effective care within legal and regulatory limits.

  2. Reviews and revises policies as required or necessary to reflect current practice, policy changes, safety requirements, etc.

  3. Identifies opportunities for improvement in pharmacy operations, safety and efficiency and implements approved changes.

  4. Assists in the ongoing development and reporting of Pharmacy department quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.

  5. Investigates and evaluates reports of medication errors attributed to the Pharmacy department and completes online event reports as needed. Provides follow up with team members as needed to close the loop.

  6. Maximize fiscal management determining needs, allocating resources. Operates within allocated budget including payroll. Designs and implements strategies for improving and meeting financial performance.

  7. Hire, terminate, evaluate, coach counsel and train staff.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
