Assistant Operations Manager Position Description

Under the supervision of the WashStudio Owner and Operator, the Laundromat Operations Manager will assist in managing the operations of three WashStudio locations. The role involves maintaining high standards in customer service, team leadership, and operational excellence, while ensuring a clean, safe, and friendly environment for self-service laundromat, drop-off laundry, and pick-up and delivery experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • People Leadership:
    • Supervise and train laundromat staff, ensuring the productivity level of employees.
    • Effectively schedule employees according to business demands and track employee time and attendance.
    • Use interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others.
    • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensure they do the same within the team.
  • Customer Service & Front Desk Operations:
    • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
    • Answer patron questions, assist with machine selection and operations, handle questions/concerns and inform Store Owner as required.
    • Oversee the drop-off and pick-up processes for wash & fold and dry-cleaning orders.
    • Ensure that patrons have a friendly and enjoyable experience at the laundromat.
  • Laundry Operations:
    • Wash, dry, and fold clothing and linen, ensuring a high-quality service to the customer.
    • Monitor and assess quality of laundry processing and perform regular quality checks.
  • Facility Management:
    • Ensure the highest level of cleanliness inside and outside of the store.
    • Oversee the general maintenance of machines and cleanliness of the store.
    • Document equipment and building maintenance issues, escalating unsafe situations to the Store Owner.
    • Maintain a safe environment inside and outside of the store by following proper security procedures.
  • Administration:
    • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are always followed.
    • Conduct and maintain inventory, ordering and purchasing supplies as required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Independent thinking and problem-solving skills.

Position Requirements:

  • Proven experience in people leadership roles.
  • Experience with computer systems including Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Drive, navigating websites and online tools, social media.
  • Experience with cash handling and point of sale systems.
  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
