Assistant Executive Director


Reports To: Executive Director

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary

The Assistant Executive Director supports the Executive Director in overseeing the daily operations of the senior living community. This position works closely with department leaders, residents, families, employees, and corporate leadership to ensure the community provides excellent resident care, strong customer service, and a safe, welcoming environment.

The Assistant Executive Director helps maintain operational standards, supports employee performance, assists with occupancy and financial goals, and provides leadership in the Executive Director's absence.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Support the Executive Director with the overall operation of the community.
  • Assist in supervising department leaders and holding teams accountable for performance and established standards.
  • Help ensure residents receive high-quality care and services.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, employees, referral partners, and community members.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident or family concerns.
  • Assist with employee recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and performance management.
  • Monitor staffing levels and help departments address scheduling or coverage concerns.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts, including tours, follow-up, community events, and referral outreach.
  • Assist with achieving occupancy, revenue, labor, and expense goals.
  • Review operational reports and follow up with departments on areas requiring improvement.
  • Help ensure compliance with company policies, state regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, resident meetings, family meetings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness and incident-response procedures.
  • Serve as the acting community leader when the Executive Director is unavailable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • LPN/RN required
  • Experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, or a related service industry is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must meet all state-specific licensing or certification requirements, when applicable.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
