What is an Assistant Naval Hospital?

An Assistant Naval Hospital is a secondary medical facility within the Navy's healthcare system, designed to provide medical, surgical, and emergency care to service members, their families, and eligible beneficiaries. These hospitals support larger naval medical centers by offering routine and some specialized health services, often in locations where a full-scale medical center is not necessary. The staff at Assistant Naval Hospitals typically includes military and civilian healthcare professionals who work together to maintain the health and readiness of naval personnel. These hospitals play a crucial role in both peacetime and during deployments, ensuring accessible healthcare for the naval community.
