- FULL TIME

Oral Roberts University School of Worship, Media & Performing Arts Music Department invites applications for Lecturer/Assistant Professor position in Music Theory/Keyboard. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Candidate must have demonstrated excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in music theory, aural skills, applied piano, class piano, orchestration, counterpoint, and other courses as appropriate to the candidate's strengths, beginning in August 2026.

DUTIES
  • Teach undergraduate courses to music majors and non-majors, in music theory, aural skills, orchestration, counterpoint and class piano, emphasizing lead-sheet reading, chord-chart navigation in traditional and contemporary worship styles (12 credit hours per semester).
  • Development of courses in their area(s) of specialization
  • Producing scholarship/creative work commensurate with the requirements for promotion
  • Academic advisement of students
  • Service on departmental, college, and/or university wide committees
  • Other duties as determined by the Director of Music or the Dean of the College of Arts & Cultural Studies
REQUIREMENTS
  • A terminal degree (Doctorate) in Music Theory (DMA or PhD) from an accredited institution or a master's degree (MM) with commensurate experience is required.
  • Candidates must fully support ORU's Statement of Faith, Honor Code, and mission.
  • Expertise in music theory/aural skills pedagogy, and advanced piano performance. Preference given to candidates with experience teaching worship piano, improvisation and modern worship technologies.
  • Preference given to candidates with demonstrated collegiate teaching experience.
