Job description

Keyboardist

About Our Church

Glad Tidings is a Christ-centered community of Christian believers who have fellowshipped together for 29 years. We focus deeply on the internal transformation of who an individual becomes, believing that our "doing" flows directly out of our "becoming." As a non-denominational ministry, we embrace the practice of Christian spiritual disciplines to experience the transformative work of the Holy Spirit.

Position Overview

We are seeking a spirit-led, part-time Organist/Keyboardist to join our music ministry. This individual will provide dynamic musical accompaniment that aligns with our focus on spiritual transformation and Holy Spirit-led worship. This role requires an advanced command of urban contemporary gospel, praise and worship, and traditional gospel music across both the organ and/or keyboard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Worship Accompaniment: Play organ and keyboard for weekly Sunday worship, mid-week services, and special church events (such as revivals and church anniversaries).
  • Weekly Rehearsals: Accompany the praise team and choir during scheduled weekday evening rehearsals.
  • Improvisation & Flow: Improvise smooth musical transitions and vamps during altar calls, prayers, and spontaneous ministry moments to facilitate a transformative environment.
  • Congregational Praise: Drive high-energy praise and worship segments, shifting smoothly between keyboard patches and organ tones to engage the congregation.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Minister of Music and pastoral staff to execute the spiritual vision for each service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Gospel Proficiency: Mastery of the Hammond B3 organ (including drawbars/bass pedals) and electronic keyboards, with deep knowledge of modern gospel chord structures.
  • By-Ear Excellence: Ability to play fluently by ear, follow soloists spontaneously, and transpose keys instantly.
  • Ministry Alignment: A personal commitment to a disciplined Christian life that reflects our core values of spiritual growth, abstinence, and active discipleship.
  • Reliability: High level of punctuality, professionalism, and dedication to a part-time church staff role.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit their musical background summary or resume, along with any video links of their playing (if available).
